Potential Motors

Computer Vision & AI Software Engineer

Full-time / Remote / Fredericton, NB, Canada

You’re passionate about a sustainable future and want to build something special. You want autonomy to own your work and at the same time to work with a talented, like minded team. The pace and scope of building a category defining product and launching on a global scale doesn’t scare you - it excites you.
We feel exactly the same way.

Potential Motors is an electric vehicle technology startup focused on electric off-road vehicles. Our technology will accelerate the off-road transition to electric vehicles by enabling manufacturers to develop more modular, performant, and resilient EV products. We are preparing for the global launch of a category defining product in 2022 and looking for ambitious people to join our team in creating a new product category and electrifying an industry.

Here’s the problem we are facing:
Machine learning applications have taken the automotive industry by storm, but these methods are difficult to directly transfer to an off-road setting. Objects and surfaces are well defined for street driving vehicles, whereas off-road is still not well defined.

Our team is developing machine learning solutions, integrated with a sensor stack, to give our customers confidence in the most uncertain terrains. We need someone to aid in the development and testing of these complex solutions.

This role will look to optimize the off-road driving experience for all drivers, no matter their skill level, by applying state of the art methods and developing prototype machine learning models for in-vehicle deployment.

Here’s where you’ll come in:
- Research, and implement state of the art neural network architectures for multiple data streams (tabular, image, etc).
- Develop real-time, embedded software to decode, interpret, and assemble the raw neural network outputs into a form consumable by the control stack.
- Optimizing algorithms for real-time systems.
- Extending prototypes into fully functional, deployable solutions.
- Work closely in our vision stack to ensure APIs are sufficient, signal quality and gaps are well understood, and future needs are anticipated.

Who we are looking for:
- Strong proficiency coding with Python or C++.
- Experience with Computer Vision
- Experience in applied Machine Learning, Genetic Algorithms, and/or Reinforcement Learning.
- Hands-on experience with Deep Learning packages such as PyTorch, Tensorflow.
- Execution of projects with large, complex data sets.
- Experience implementing algorithms from publications.
- Familiarity of cloud computing frameworks (AWS, GCP).
- Familiarity with Linux and the setup of machine learning environments.
- Project experience with segmentation and depth map estimation.
- Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering background, or equivalent experience.

What it’s like to work with us:
- Unlimited vacation
- Freedom and flexibility in work-life balance
- Lots of room to grow with the company, in position and in learning.
- You will work with something real - you will see your work driving!
- A values-driven workplace and strong founding culture
- You will have have independence and the opportunity to have a real impact - your voice will be heard
- Health benefits plan from day one.

If this role sounds like you, we’d love to hear how your experiences would make you a great fit.

Potential Motors is an equal opportunity employer.
